Synergies in Cybersecurity: Exploring Rosetta Stone and Cyber Fundamentals
Date: 29 January 2026 | 09:30–13:00 CET
Location: Rue Guimard 7, 1040 Brussels

This capacity-building event focuses on strengthening cooperation between civilian and defence cybersecurity communities by presenting and discussing two complementary frameworks: Rosetta Stone and Cyber Fundamentals. It aims to enhance participants’ understanding of aligned cybersecurity skills frameworks, promote interoperability, and foster shared best practices between military and civilian stakeholders.
Organised by our partner Université Libre de Bruxelles alongside the COcyber consortium meeting, the event brings together two key Belgian cybersecurity initiatives that demonstrate successful cooperation between defence and civilian actors. Through expert-led presentations and interactive discussions, participants will gain insights into the alignment of cybersecurity skills frameworks (ENISA, NIST-NICE) and integrated assessment methodologies (ISO 27001, NIST CSF). The session emphasises practical learning, shared understanding, and cross-sector capacity building, concluding with networking to encourage future collaboration.
Speakers:
- Carl Vastman – Belgian Defence (Rosetta Stone)
- Dirk De Paepe – Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (Cyber Fundamentals)
Following the presentations, a joint discussion will allow participants to explore how skills frameworks and assessment methodologies can reinforce each other, support capacity building, and enable more effective collaboration between civilian and defence environments.
The event concludes with a networking lunch, providing space for informal exchange between speakers and participants and encouraging future collaboration within the European cybersecurity ecosystem.
