COcyber Sponsors Dual-Use Collaboration Session at SPIN: Rise pre-incubation programme

Dual-use innovation is a core theme in COcyber’s work to strengthen cooperation between civilian and defence actors across Europe. This year, the project is extending that mission into the innovation and research commercialisation space through a collaboration with SPIN: Rise, the 28DIGITAL pre-incubation programme supporting Deep Tech researchers. SPIN: Rise features four tracks in total: Pitch the Science, REWIRE Health Tech, Cybersecurity Launchpad, and the dual-use track COcyber is involved in, Evolve DualTech. 

The Evolve DualTech track focuses specifically on technologies with both civilian and security applications. Delivered by Verhaert Strategic Innovation, it offers researchers a structured seven-week journey combining online expert sessions, personalised mentoring, and a three-day bootcamp in Brussels. The track covers the fundamentals of dual-use technologies, market validation, IP and compliance, early funding pathways, and the steps required to move from scientific research to operational capability.

As part of this collaboration, COcyber is hosting and sponsoring the panel “Turning Research into Capability: Building Dual Use Solutions through Academia-Industry Collaboration”, which will take place during the Evolve DualTech Bootcamp Kick-off on 3 December. COcyber’s branding will appear on the session slides and on the official agenda.

The panel will bring together experts from academia, industry, and defence organisations to explore how research results can transition into viable dual-use solutions, and how collaboration frameworks help researchers navigate this pathway. As a further link between the two initiatives, one of the winning teams from the COcyber AI Cybersecurity Deephack is participating in the Evolve DualTech track, strengthening the bridge between COcyber’s talent ecosystem and European dual-use innovation programmes.
