COcyber Press Release #1: Strengthening Ties Between Europe’s Civilian and Defence Cybersecurity Sectors
January 8, 2025, Brussels, Belgium – In its first official press release, the COcyber project introduces its ambitious goals and invites stakeholders to participate in a needs assessment survey. The initiative, funded under the European Union’s Digital Europe Programme and supported by the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre, seeks to bridge the civilian and defence cybersecurity sectors across Europe.
With a €2.97 million budget, COcyber is driven by a multidisciplinary team of five European organizations: EIT Digital, the European Organisation for Security, The Lisbon Council for Economic Competitiveness, Université Libre de Bruxelles, and AUSTRALO. Together, these partners are working to develop tools, frameworks, and policy recommendations to strengthen resilience, foster collaboration, and drive innovation across Europe’s cybersecurity landscape.
The press release also highlights the start of public consultations, including an online survey aimed at gathering insights from cybersecurity professionals and organizations. These efforts will shape strategies for improved collaboration and long-term participation between public and private sectors.
